Jacks - Games Children Play

Finished my little postcard size painting for The Women's Crisis Center in Moss, Norway.  Artists from around the world will be sending original postcard size hand painted paintings to Norway to be auctioned off to raise money to help abused women and children.  I'm so excited to participate in something that has drawn so many artists together who are willing to use their gifts to help others.  David Sandum is the artist behind this event, to read more about it check out David's Blog

Classic Ford Hood Ornament

"Classic Ford Hood Ornament " is today's featured painting on G+ with Brushes

18" x 24" x 1.5" acrylic on canvas

Painting realism is about painting what you see and pushing the value shifts.  I once read that you should never have a painted area bigger then a square inch of any one color, this is something  I always keep in the back of my mind while painting.

Painting realistic chrome has many challenges, with it's reflective qualities it picks up everything that surrounds it, making it easy to lose track of what you are painting.

Painting tip:  Use a wet palette.  For this painting using paynes gray & white I mixed up a value range of  5 values, which I stored on my wet palette.
