Yesterday I had a late Doctors appointment in Richmond with my Rheumatologist, I didn't want to deal with the rush hour traffic so chose to go out and explore the West Dyke Trail in Richmond.  

It was a great day filled with inspiring views, some farm animals, oreo cows (first time I've ever seen these), an old gold car, some blue herons, a bounty of beautiful flowers, a dinner of fish and chips on the beach, all topped off by a gorgeous sunset.  Oh yes and one sore foot blister after a 6 mile walk (it was worth it.)  

Life is good!

It was almost at the end of my shooting session, the light was going when I came across this shed sitting on the hill, it had two of my favorite things to shoot a dramatic sky and some good old rust.

169/365 Captured Moments - Acrylic Painting - Wild Flowers

Inspired by the blue wild flowers I posted  here.  This was a fun little painting, very loosely painted with multiple glazes and finished off with a thick layer of Golden Soft Gel, although it is supposed to be self leveling after it dried I noticed it still had some dips so I added another thinner layer of gel.

A couple of cedar waxwings to share. I had to do some major cropping to get it to this point.  I can't claim to be a great bird photographer but I do enjoy the challenge of trying to get a decent capture.

I was caught up by this old corroded steel post and the shiny stainless steel fitting sitting atop.  It looks as if it was added in the not to distant past, yet it has been long enough that the moss/lichen is beginning to encroach upon it.

Driving around tonight out in the Matsqui Flats I came across some netting covering the blueberry bushes and made this image.  I love how the sky looks like a painting with it's gradient transitions of color.

I crossed the tracks then crossed back over when I caught this little bright patch of sunlight along the rolling tracks.  

Behind the bushes and trees is a old dirt road as I was shooting a car conveniently came along and sped down the dirt road stirring up dust and giving this image that hazy look that I love.

PS.... The mosquitoes were vicious and huge

On my way home from work today I stopped at a farmers flower stand and treated myself to a bouquet of  flowers.  Just a little self love from me to myself.

Sometimes when I come home from a photo shoot all the images on my camera are just mediocre, such was the case last night  I probably deleted 80% of the photos but I did get one pretty wild rose.

155/365 Captured Moments - Fragrant White Phlox

I was surprised to find these deliciously fragrant white phlox thriving in such a inhospitable place.  The area has full sun, gravel, and broken concrete yet I found both the white and purple phlox, some small orange poppies, lupines and foxgloves. 

I couldn't resist I had to pick a small bloom to enjoy the heavenly scent for just a little longer.
