191/365 Captured Moments - Acrylic Painting - Standoff
Having fun with color!
Yesterday after working on this piece I came across the following quote.
"Unless you do something beyond what you have already mastered you will never grow." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Which leads me to admitting that I fear color! Yes that's one of my guilty secrets, (we won't get into the others) I can match color which isn't a problem when I work on realistic paintings, but when it comes to changing color I have issues, this goes so far back that I can clearly remember my older sister always telling me my clothes were clashing.
That being said I have decided to work on color for a bit with this being my first attempt at moving out of my comfort zone.

190/365 Captured Moments - Ducks in Flight Abstract
Ducks in flight with a blurred background is one of those images I have debated over, I love the abstracted feel of the background, the horizontal lines and the different layers of color but would have liked to have had a closer and clearer view of the ducks. Is it a good shot or a bad shot, I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder.

189/365 Captured Moments - It's Messy
It's a mess but the vibrancy of the colors has won me over.
The glow around the heads of the cone-flowers has always reminded me of an Angel's halo, they look so bright and alive as they stand tall in the flower beds and especially spectacular with the back drop of black eyed susan's.

186/365 Captured Moments - The Rising Moon
Finally I was in the right place at the right time to get a shot of the full moon, tonight is supposed to be the best night but I figured I wouldn't take any chances.
I almost had the opportunity to take a shot of a plane flying across the moon but at the last minute it decided to descend grrrr.

185/364 Captured Moments - Fun In The Sun
This image of a back lit hollyhock reminds me of a kaleidoscope with it's star shaped center and the petal design. The color is great too, in fact at this moment I am wearing a tank top in this exact color.

181/365 Captured Moments - Find the Herons
Sturgeon Bank Richmond - I didn't actually count the herons I was to busy snapping pictures but at a guess I would say there were about 12 of them all scattered about in this area.

178/365 Captured Moments - Sturgeon Banks, Richmond, BC
The shape of the piece of standing wood in the foreground reminds me of a large piece of pottery, I find the textures and curves appealing.
"Sturgeon Banks is a 21,525 acre estuary located on the banks of the Fraser River and Strait of Georgia. It is an important part of the Pacific Flyway, with 1.4 million birds migrating through the area annually and provides excellent habitat for nesting birds. The long expanse of marsh that makes up Sturgeon Banks runs from Terra Nova in the north to Garry Point Park in the south, it is adjacent to the West Dyke Trail and extends west out into the Strait of Georgia. City of Richmond Parks "
